MEET YOUR THERAPIST
Hi, I’m Robbie! This is the story behind my work.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked over 25 jobs, starting with McDonald’s at age 16. I spent years climbing ladders that didn’t really define who I was, switching majors five times, dropping out of college, going back, and generally trying to figure out where I fit.
What I did know was that I loved connecting with people and was drawn to stories of adversity and resilience. They fit the optimistic way I saw the world: people go through hard things, overcome them, and somehow come out stronger.
Or at least, that’s how I rationalized it. What I didn’t realize was how much “staying positive” had become a way of overlooking my own emotions. I could work hard, keep moving forward, and look completely fine while still feeling disconnected from myself.
Learning that changed how I understood resilience and eventually led me to therapy. If you’ve ever wondered, “I’m doing everything I’m supposed to be doing, so why don’t I feel like myself?” I understand that question.
The more I unpacked and understood that question over time, the more I realized that I had been living in survival mode my whole life. This powerful insight began the journey to a whole new way of experiencing life from a place of choice and authenticity.
Outside the Therapy Room
When I’m not in session, I enjoy staying active to balance work from a chair during the week. I particularly enjoy practicing internal arts such as qigong and tai chi because it helps me to slow down and emphasize noticing the body.
I also go to the gym consistently and enjoy cooking meals with wellness in mind - at least most of the time!
Going to coffee shops, trying new restaurants, horse riding, journaling are all things I enjoy as well.
Who I Work With
Today, I work with adults who learned to survive difficult relationships, childhood experiences, emotional neglect or environments where being fully themselves didn't always feel possible.
Sometimes that looks like overthinking relationships, people-pleasing, shutting down, constantly anticipating what could go wrong or knowing logically that you're safe while your body seems to disagree.
How I Help
My approach is gentle, structured, and body-focused. We start by getting a clear picture of where you are and track your progress over time, so you can see what’s actually improving, what’s working, and where we need to focus more attention.
Early on, we explore how threat responses show up in your body and relationships, helping us work with the patterns underneath your reactions rather than only finding temporary relief from them.
We practice somatic skills, identify recurring patterns, and use experiential cognitive and narrative exercises so you're not just talking about change, but practicing and experiencing it.
As we go deeper, we may incorporate Sensorimotor Psychotherapy or EMDR based on your goals and readiness. Throughout the process, I gather your feedback so we can adjust the work and make sure therapy continues to meet your needs.
